Trading on the fact that New Zealand was “the first country outside the UK to screen the show”, the national Mint has produced a commemorative solid silver coin – worth NZ$2 as legal tender but priced at NZ$155 – featuring the TARDIS on one side and Her Majesty the Queen on the other.
The coin comes in a presentation replica blue police box, which makes the iconic TARDIS sound when opened, and is officially licensed by BBC Worldwide, the corporation’s commercial arm.
The coin officially launches on 1 February at the Berlin World Money Fair. You can pre-order it at newzealandmint.com.

you know what no i’m fucking angry about doctor who again
it used to be something so much bigger than itself. it lifted people up and inspired people to be better and even if it was kind of silly sometimes you really felt like you mattered just from watching it.
and now basically all it is is steven moffat’s sandbox and he’s brought in all his favorite action figures and he’s got the dashing heroes saving the sexy ladies and riding dinosaurs and at one point it sort of goes off into sherlock holmes or cowboys and there’s no real rhyme or reason to it
